Subtitle Media is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a more comprehensive representation of Asian culture by promoting an awareness of Asian and Asian American achievements in the arts. Subtitle will be the source for the public to experience the significant, yet underrepresented accomplishments of Asians and Asian Americans in arts and media. Subtitle will feature talent in film, fashion, music, and art through a variety of events ranging from film festivals, fashion shows, music festivals, art exhibitions, seminars, and workshops to challenge and explore beyond the common misconceptions of Asians in current media.

Due to limited resources, outlets, and strategies, Asian and Asian American achievements in arts and media have lacked a presence in contemporary American culture. Current media standards tend to focus attention on non-Asian cultural examples and when attention is given, it is largely grounded in stereotypes and misconceptions. Such factors have discouraged Asian and Asian American participation in these industries and this has further contributed to the lack of presence in these creative fields.

Subtitle Media was formed to fill the void of Asian and Asian American presence in today’s media. Subtitle will strive to alleviate this discrepancy by educating, exposing, and becoming the outlet for the general public to experience the much-overlooked talents and contributions of Asians and Asian Americans. Stereotypes will be challenged by providing a fuller, more accurate portrayal of Asian culture and potentials while informing young Asian Americans of the educational, professional, recreational opportunities in the arts and media realm.
